With "Tampere Energy" Towards International House Tampere!

The public discussion around work-based migration is fierce.  The discussion is important, because it increases awareness and the theme becomes more concrete. And that is what we need, something concrete.  How can we ensure adequate support for companies on labour availability matters? And how do we help people who are in Finland studying or looking for employment or entrepreneurship opportunities, let alone those who are just arriving in Finland? Hard work has been done in Tampere to develop a service point where one can find, with the ‘one-stop shop’ principle, services both for employers as well as clients who have moved or are about to move to this country.  This is International House Tampere.

Single service point to support international recruitment and integration

Companies receive practical advice from International House Tampere on issues relating to international recruitment, such as where to find talents, what to know about residence permits, what kind of financial support is available and how to take into account the settlement in Finland of a worker of foreign origin possibly with a family.  As a particularly important personal service, House contains the service point for Multilingual info Mainio, where help with everyday matters and with official services is provided in 16 different languages!  Furthermore, we give migrants advice for example on finding employment and educational opportunities. Read more about the services at www.tampere.fi/internationalhouse.

Behind this permanent service point is a development project involving the City of Tampere as the main coordinator, Local Employment and Economic Development Office (TE-office) of Pirkanmaa, Tampere University, Tampere University of Applied Sciences and Tampere Vocational College Tredu. Of course, in service collaboration and in communication and guidance for customers the partnership network is be expanded, to cover Business Tampere and Business Finland, the Chamber of Commerce and private service providers, to name a few.  So the hard work has been done and finally, on 15.10.2021, will we be able to celebrate the opening of the International House Tampere!

And that is not all, the Entergr8 project is currently developing government services as part of the the International House Tampere initiative, in collaboration with the Social Insurance Institution Kela, Finnish Immigration Service Migri, the Digital and Population Data Service Agency (DVV) and Vero (Tax administration).

International House Tampere as a part of the City of Tampere international marketing

In addition to International House Tampere’s local services, our goal is to take the message of Tampere abroad, as a part of international activities of Finland Works. Of course, these attempts to attract international talent, and international marketing initiatives have been more challenging due to COVID-19, but a good example of pick-up activity was the “Move Your Startup to Tampere’’ webinar on 5.10.2021. Tampere Talent Ambassadors also have an important role to play in international marketing, because based on their own experience they are able to bring credibility to Tampere’s international marketing.  Tampere Talent Ambassadors are a part of the Tampere Ambassador network, further information about the network at www.tampere.fi/ambassadors.

Welcome to celebrate the opening on LIVE

We warmly welcome everyone to watch the online opening of the International House on 15.10.2021 starting at 1.00 pm!  Further information on the LIVE broadcast of the opening at internationaltampere.fi/internationalhouse-opening.

International House Tampere is a part of the national Talent Boost programme, which aims to promote employers to recruit international talents, as well as to strengthen the growth of Finnish organisations through internationalisation, and to make Finland an attractive country to international talents.
